The Art of Ornament

This project comes from a study of the four ecologies of Los Angeles as described in Reyner Banham's book "Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies".

The project begins with the study and transformation of an existing structure found in the "Plains of Id" ecology. By taking a close look at ornamentation and transforming, a new project is created that critiques and simultaneously embraces the use of ornament to produce form and individuality.
